Public Safety Communications
My first role in public safety communications was as a volunteer PIO for a central Oklahoma fire department. My role initially was to assist with a funding crisis by crafting messages and organizing the community to support the department.
In 2018, I joined the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety to work in the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office as the Communications Manager. In my role with the highway safety office, I am responsible for overseeing all media and public relations activities for the office. I work closely with the media and public affairs department with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to coordinate messages and campaigns.
I also oversee the marketing services vendor for the agency. I ensure that all tasks are being performed as allowed by federal and state regulations. My role with the agency is to guide the public awareness campaigns and stay on the cutting edge of behavior change marketing trends. The team at the marketing services agency does a fantastic job, helping to create award-winning campaigns that ultimately save lives in Oklahoma.
In late 2018, I was hired as a Reserve Police Officer with the Town of Jones in Oklahoma County. My reserve peace officer academy is set to graduate in June 2019. I look forward to learning and growing as a police officer and serving the community in a new way.
